Steven Balderas

@poweredbydoughnuts

Working in as an Design Engineer for Nuclear Power Plants and traveling coast-to-coast to find the best doughnuts America has to offer, Steven calls himself the closest thing to a “real life” Homer Simpson as it gets.

Steven started his foodie journey via Instagram back in 2013 as @poweredbydoughnuts and ironically it was intended to be very literal.  He was an aspiring bodybuilder at the time and doughnut cheat meals became a weekly ritual.  After copious amounts of broccoli and chicken breast he decided to swap the six pack for…well, a six pack and the rest is history!

Steven playfully says, “If you haven’t noticed, I SPELL DOUGHNUT CORRECTLY (*glares at @donutdigest*…lol). I’m a huge fan of yeast doughnuts but not the light airy Krispy Kreme kind. I’m talking the luscious, buttery, dense brioche kind that’s packed with flavor all on its own.  In my eyes, if your dough is mediocre, no amount of toppings can save you…”

If there’s one thing Bryan Carr knows…besides dad jokes, baldness, and the airspeed velocity of and unladen swallow…it’s DONUTS. He’s set foot in over 200 donut shops across the country (and counting), builds donut walls in his spare time, and together with his beautiful wife, Heather, is hosting the second-annual Utah Dough Show in May. His go-to is the maple bar (followed closely by blueberry cake) and his ugly donut sweater probably deserves its own IG profile. Bryan’s excited to attend the Dallas Donut Fest and looks forward to indiscriminately consuming large amounts of carbohydrates with Dallas’ dedicated donut enthusiasts!
